ABC’s of Farm-Based Education – Project Seasons Workshop
If you are just starting to explore the possibilities of opening your farm for education, or looking for new ideas for your program, this is the workshop for you. Topics include marketing your farm program to schools and the community, creating a safe farm environment for the public, meeting teachers’ needs, and hands-on ways to develop agricultural education programs for school groups.

Vermont Chili Festival
Pros and amateurs dish up their special chilies for festival attendees. Street performers and live music make this festival complete. Proceeds benefit the Vermont Disaster Relief Fund and Vermont 211.

Table Talk: “Meat, Salt and Spices”
Peter Colman, owner of Vermont Salumi at Cate Farm in Plainfield, will talk about the art and science of curing local meats — skills he learned from his Umbrian grandfather in Italy. Attendees will get to sample the meats as well.

Stone Wall Workshop
Hosted by Queen City Soil and Stone, this one-day, hands-on workshop focuses on the basic techniques for creating dry-laid stone walls with a special emphasis on stone native to Vermont. Workshops will continue through March 2012.

8th Annual Vermont Grain Growers Conference
The theme for the daylong event for farmers, bakers and homesteaders is “The Seeds that Farmers Need.” Workshops will cover topics such as open-pollinated corn, grains as nutrient-dense animal feed, resurgence of ancient grains, home-scale stone mill maintenance, bread flour quality considerations and gluten-free flatbread making.
