This study aims to map the structural relationships among various organizations within the information-sharing network of local food consumption in Vermont. To examine the extent of organizational participation within the network, we will use social network analysis to calculate the number of ties, the distance, and the number of paths that each organization has with other organizations. The research will also investigate the correlates of the centrality of an organization’s position within the network, such as an organization’s perceived influence, perceived trust, commitment to local food movement, motivation to promote the food consumption, frequency to form alliance(s) with others and competitive advantage (e.g., capability to obtain outside funding).
