The Burlington School District might be the most famous example of it, thanks to recognition from the USDA (http://www.wcax.com/Global/story.asp?S=12252583), but there are farm to school efforts happening at schools (and farms) throughout Vermont.
Researchers are playing an active role, trying to evaluate outputs and impacts, particularly from a nutrition standpoint. Other research has been done to investigate the relationship between farmer and school, as well as to uncover “best practices” among schools who have Farm to School programs in place.
More research remains, particularly to quantify outputs and impacts. This could be a great place to share current research topics and plans for future research on Farm to School.
